Rowan void

letter 1

addressed to: Professor Rowan Nebelhart This letter was folded offline and crumpled to fit into the envelope for the moogle. There are surprisingly few crossouts, but only because unbeknownst to the recipient it was draft 3. The existing crossouts are scribbled over repeatedly.

Professor Rowan,

I am writing to inquire about getting notes or something of the lectures for void stuff theory. I have been impressed by your whooshy spooks efficient use of magic and know you have some kind of weird past an affinity for dark aether and think learning from you would be a good way to keep up with my learning while I'm learning about the ways weird dimensional travelers Alexandrians use aether with electrope.

Thanks Aly & Sparks

PS I think your wife miyata said you were doing a class and there's more lessons happening? I'm asking her too but if you start teaching as soon as I leave to check out this weird magic metal and I can't get part of it I'm going to be so mad

Letter 2

Addressed to: Aly. The envelope is of fine make and sealed with wax embossed with the seal of the Whisperwood Enclave. The letter within is folded a little inexactly but fits within the envelope's roomy interior. The handwriting is neat but a bit cramped.

Aly,

Just call me Rowan. Lectures will be starting soon, so once I've got my notes together, I'll send you a copy. If you have any specific questions, I can answer them for you. Have fun in Alexandria, and be careful - who knows what further bullshit will be happening in the dome. If you make any interesting finds about electrope, send them our way.

Sincerely,

Rowan Nebelhart

Letter 3

*This envelope is somewhat crinkled, probably stuffed in a bag. The letter within has minor splotches from some liquid and something that glows very faintly blue near strong concentrations of aether. *

Rowan, Cool! I'm keeping records of what I'm learning for any other scholars at the rest, but for the highlights:

For your voidy interests in particular, electrope seems to be able to change the attunement but doesn't touch the polarity of it. I asked if strongly astral or umbral aether acted differently and they shut me up asked that I not pursue that avenue

Whisperwood Alexandrian Branch,

Aly

PS They were kind of weirded out when I asked about voidsent too - I guess they are from a different dimension so they might not get voidsent? But they do funky stuff with their memories so I don't know how far to trust that

PPS I bumped into someone the other day that muttered something about people that asked too many questions being welcome and planted something on me so uh. We'll see how that goes!

Letter 4

Addressed to: Aly. The letter is folded better this time - it seems that Rowan either got lucky the first time or is learning from the practice.

Aly,

Arcanima, huh? T'eirlys is probably our best expert on that, but I don't know if you'll be able to get a letter out of her - she's pretty busy with her kids. I noticed the high levels of lightning aether when I was there - they gave me awful headaches until I got some gadget from Allure that helped with it.

Interesting that the polarity isn't affected by the elemental change performed by the electrope... I suspect they're used to astral aether, since lightning is typically astrally-aspected, but umbral aether would be a bit harder to find in such an environment... I'd be interested in finding out what you could learn with some strong umbral aether, perhaps with an ice aspect, pumped through the electrope.

Voidsent are mostly a foreign phenomenon to their world, as far as I know - I never heard of wherever it was that they came from before they suddenly showed up in Tural. I think things changed a bit with Palazzo, but not enough to have made your average scholar  would suddenly be aware of the Void.

Stay safe,

Rowan Nebelhart

Letter 5

A new envelope arrives, unnaturally precise lettering addressing it to Rowan, and the letter inside similarly unnaturally consistent and neat. Several sections were ineffectively drawn over in an attempt to cross them out. Alongside it is a small box with a small piece of metal that appears to be spinning continuously on a small point with jagged edges

Rowan,

I have included one of the results of my experiments with attempting to induce polarized aether to flow through electrope. I do not recommend attempting to replicate such experiments in the same room as the materials. I will likely not be able to replicate the experiments exactly the same since I'm no longer allowed in those labs. Attempting to induce flow of aether with any aspect besides lightning was less explosive energetic, but (though interesting) similarly ineffective in producing immediately useful results.

I've also made some new friends additional contacts that are criminals similarly regarded by the major halls of study and have been introduced to to some interesting uses of their tech, including (as you may have noticed) "printing". You might find it almost as useful as I have!

Whisperwood, unofficial quasi-Alexandrian Branch, Aly Olkund

Letter 6

The same formal envelope is addressed to Aly, with wax seal and all. The paper inside is precisely folded and its edges well-creased. The writing is neat and not quite as cramped as before, as though the author took care to space out their letters.

Aly,

The piece of electrope you sent along reacts strongly to astral aether, increasing the speed of its spinning by quite a bit upon exposure. Since it sounds like you had some trouble with experimenting on it, I haven't done anything too intensive to it. I would be interested in hearing more about how exactly you created it, if you could forward the notes along. I'm regretting not talking to Allure more about electrope when I had the chance.

I'm glad your letters are more legible - try not to alienate these friends too quickly for my eyes' sake, hm?

Sincerely,

Rowan Nebelhart
